Turbines, Pumps, Boilers Open System (Control Volume) Piston Cylinder Arrangement Closed System (Control mass or non flow) Universe, Well Insulated Flask Isolated System =>Continuum Approach :- In this approach any substance is viewed to be continuous and homogenous matter i.e. there is no free space between molecules and matter is homogeneously distributed throughout the volume of the substeance. This approach is valid only if we work with volumes, area and lengths that are very large relative to the" Mean Free Path " [Path travelled by a molecule between any two consecutive collisions].
