But working hard wherever you are at the moment can help you uncover your unique mission… Few people are fortunate enough to know their own personal ‘mission’ from the outset. The result of our daily struggles to find out purpose in life may not be revealed until our forties, fifties or sixties. So I believe it’s important to find something – it doesn’t matter what....with which to challenge yourself.

That doesn’t mean, however, that you can sit around and wait for the answer to come to you or that someone will tell you what it is. It’s by challenging yourself that you will eventually discover your mission. Our lives are like mountains concealing precious gems. Precious gems are buried underground. If they are not mined, they’ll stay buried. And if they aren’t polished once they have been dug out, they will remain forever in the rough.

When someone pushes you to work harder, it is because they know that by plunging into any area that interests you, you can unearth the jewel in your life. Tenacity is crucial. You can’t make the jewel inside you shine with half hearted efforts. You have the right to decide what type of job you want to do; there are many options. And if you can’t decide, then start out with a job you can get easily, something you are familiar with. That way you can gain experience and find out what you’re good at.
Do You Know your Mission? (Cont’d) Getting a job is just the starting point in uncovering your true ability – it is absolutely not the final goal. There is no need to be impatient. It is important to make your way up the mountain of life steadily, without rushing or giving up. What’s vital is to challenge yourself in something. Then as you make consistent efforts, the direction you should take will open up before you quite naturally. It’s important therefore to have the courage to ask yourself what you should be doing at this very moment.
