Web Technologies WEB TECHNOLOGIES  In this subject, we will learn the various TECHNOLOGIES which are used to create the WEB pages.  Those Technologies are: • HTML (Unit –I) • Java Script, DHTML (Unit –II) • XML (Unit –III) • Java Beans (Unit –IV) • Web Servers and Servlets (Unit –V) • JSP(Unit –VI and (Unit –VII)) • DataBase Access (Unit –VIII) HTML (Unit –I)  HTML is stands for “HyperText Markup Language”.  Text: Text is collection of characters, digits and special symbols. • HyperText: It is more than a text that works as a link. • Markup Language: It is a language used to write the layout information within documents.  HTML is a subset of SGML (Standardized General Markup Language).  HTML files are saved as .html (or) .htm  HTML is used to create the web pages. • Web Page: It is a page which consists of Text, Images, Audio files and Video files.  HTML was developed by Tim Berners – Lee at CERN.  HTML will be implemented using Tags. • Tag: It is a string (word) which is Surrounded by angular brackets(< > ) Points regarding Tags:  They should be in angular brackets (< >).  They are not case-sensitive.  If HTML language does not understand any tag, then it simply ignores that tag.  In HTML, White spaces, tabs, and new lines are ignored.
